Club Dues? Membership in the Flint River Watershed Coalition? Let's Talk.

As I have mentioned several times in the past, I have wanted our club to be dues free. I dont want it to be overly burdened with business meetings and politics, but rather I want it to be a community of paddlers who enjoy paddling with each other, using, protecting and improving the Flint River Watershed which we use for our sport. I have also mentioned a few times that since we do not have dues and we are a sponsored chapter of the Flint River Watershed Coalition (FRWC) that we should strongly recommend that our members consider becoming a member of the FRWC. We did not want to make it mandatory, but we did want to strongly promote and support our "Parent" organization since we have very similar goals and objectives. Currently I believe only three of our members are paid members of the FRWC, therefore I think we may need to stongly consider implimenting annual dues equal to that of an annual membership in the FRWC. These dues will not go directly to the FRP's, but they will help to support our group.

In the not to distant future, I will be working with members of the FRWC to try and get some grant money to have a Canoe Livery style trailer built for use by both the FRP's and the FRWC. I will also be working on getting some "Club Equipment" that paid members will be able to use on a checking out basis. SO there will be perks associated with your paid membership into the FRWC, these mainly being supporting the work that the watershed coalition does to protect and improve the river we call our "Home" paddling destination. An annual family membership was $40 the last time I checked, and an individual membership is $25.
